Taco Bell Defy looks like a two-story bank for tacos

Taco Bell has opened the doors of its latest concept – Taco Bell Defy – a two-story restaurant that delivers food to customers via a vertical lift.

The new digs look less like a fast-food restaurant and more like a large bank or office. The kitchen is on the second floor with four lanes below: one for the traditional drive-thru and three others for Taco Bell app customers and deliver drivers.

App customers scan their QR code at a digital kiosk and watch as the food comes down the tube.

In a press release, Taco Bell’s aim is to reduce wait times to two minutes or less. 

Right now, the concept only exists in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The franchisee reportedly has plans to retrofit other restaurants nearby.
