A French winemaker who has worked for many years in the South Okanagan region has been awarded the honourary title of Chevalier (Knight) in the Ordre du Mérite Agricole.
Caroline Schaller, who is at this time the winemaker at Rainmaker Wines in Oliver, was presented the prestigious recognition by the Ministry of Agriculture of the French Republic, which highlights the distinctive place that agriculture, foods and the culinary arts participate in in the record, overall economy and tradition of France.
“The award honours distinguished members of the agricultural group and Ms Schaller is currently being distinguished for her special merits in that industry and for her contribution to the dissemination of French culinary lifestyle at large,” the push release states.
She joins just 4 other users of the get from the province : 3 restaurateurs and a wine specialist in Vancouver.
A medal was presented to her in Kelowna by the Consul Basic, Nicolas Baudouin, who is in Vancouver representing the French governing administration in Western Canada.

She also worked for 13 yrs at Domaine d’En Segur, internationally reputed ahead of moving to BC in 2017 where by she was employed at Osoyoos Larose area as winemaker- oenologist.
In January of 2022, Schaller built her shift to Rainmaker Wines to produce increased high quality productions.
