
With March Insanity in comprehensive swing, a well-known Iowa food stuff contest has returned in search of the ideal, smoky, saucy pulled pork sandwich.
It is really the fifth calendar year of the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) Pulled Pork Insanity contest, and the bracket has been narrowed down to 4 of Iowans’ preferred sandwiches.
“This is a enjoyable contest for pork supporters to take part in. Not only do they get to present their support for their most loved pulled pork, they are also released to other dining establishments around the condition,” Hannah Spurr, IPPA’s buyer outreach director, stated in a press launch. “It’s just a terrific way to remind folks that dining establishments in all sections of Iowa have pork on the menu!”

At the beginning of March, pork enthusiasts nominated their favorite restaurants for the chance to win $250, a “Pulled Pork Insanity” plaque and bragging rights. When the contest introduced, 622 nominations from 62 Iowa eating places arrived through the pork association, which then narrowed down the “Sweet 16” centered on the two places to eat with the most votes for each IPPA district.
Previous winners
The contest started off in 2018 when Moo’s BBQ in Newton took the championship title. In 2019, the plaque went to Warehouse Barbecue Co. + Brewhouse in Ottumwa, and in 2020, voters declared the pulled pork at Whatcha Smokin’ BBQ + Brew in Luther the winner.
The reigning 2021 champion is Davenport’s Smokin’ Butt Barbecue.

How to vote
To vote in the championship bracket, pulled pork lovers can go to the IPPA’s Fb web site or the Pulled Pork Insanity web site to register. The upcoming spherical of voting finishes March 28, and the remaining round of voting will finish March 31. The winner will be introduced on April 1.
